As the sunshine entices us outside, we turn our attention to personal safety. Your child is probably an inch taller then he was in the fall. With new shoes, bigger bodies, and gross motor play we see more falls, bumps and scrapes. We encourage those bodies to move and develop, we talk about taking care of our bodies, and making safe and healthy choices. Now that they are old enough for play dates, going to the park, to the beach, to the mall, on vacation..to practice what to do if we are separated or lost. We praise a child for learning a telephone number and address, how to say their whole name so an adult can understand them. A child with self-esteem, who understands that she/he is capable and lovable will make better, safer choices. We are so thankful for the police officers and fire fighters who have counseled our children with such care! Now, on to the bike safety!
